Melissa Binns is a partner in Gowling WLG’s Hamilton office. Her practice focuses on patent and trademark litigation and pharmaceutical regulatory law, as well as copyright litigation and licensing. Her litigation and enforcement experience span a broad range of subject matter, including biotech, pharmaceutical and related processes, apparel, computer software and information tech, domain names, branding, and famous trademarks. Melissa has appeared before the Federal Court and Federal Court of Appeal acting for Canadian and international clients including leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. A registered trademark agent, Melissa provides advice to clients regarding the protection and enforcement of trademark rights in Canada, including trademark opposition and expungement proceedings, trademark infringement, trademark litigation, and anti-counterfeiting matters. She also advises clients on pharmaceutical regulations, trademark portfolio management, biologics, life cycle issues, listing on the patent register, data protection, settlement negotiations and patent litigation - including infringement and impeachment actions and proceedings under the applicable regulations.
