Michael Crichton is a partner in Gowling WLG's Ottawa office and a past lead of the firm’s national Intellectual Property Litigation & Strategy Group. He has over 20 years of experience as an IP litigator and strategic adviser. His domestic and international clients include companies engaged in a variety of industries, including mechanical, electrical, computer hardware and software, manufacturing/fabrication, communications, and related tech. Michael has appeared as counsel in numerous patent litigation proceedings in the Federal Courts. He also acts for clients involved in disputes concerning complex trade secrets and software copyright enforcement and is experienced with respect to Canada/U.S. cross-border IP litigation. Michael provides strategic counselling and opinions regarding patent infringement, patent validity, and related issues. A registered patent agent, his practice also includes patent drafting, prosecution, and portfolio management.
