Michael Lubetsky is a senior partner in McMillan’s Toronto office, where he leads the firm’s national tax litigation practice. He has successfully represented clients in a wide range of federal and provincial tax matters. He also has extensive experience in civil litigation matters, including acting in constitutional cases, commercial disputes, class actions, judicial reviews, securities commission cases, and international arbitrations. He is called to the bars of both Ontario and Quebec and has appeared and argued before all levels of court across Canada, including the Supreme Court of Canada. He has also authored articles on a diverse range of legal subjects that have been cited by the Supreme Court of Canada and the federal, Quebec, and BC courts of appeal. He offers clients unique perspectives on international business matters, having spent time as a researcher with an investment company in Japan and later as an officer in the Canadian Foreign Service in Haiti, the Dominican Republic, and China. He is fluent in French and English and has some proficiency in Japanese, Spanish, Haitian Creole, German, Polish, and other languages.
