Mouna is the Chair of the firm’s Cyber, Privacy and Data Protection Group. Mouna represents clients in the private and public sector in claims involving cybersecurity incidents, privacy breaches, professional negligence and complex bodily injury. Mouna is designated as a CIPM through the IAPP and holds a Certificate in Privacy Law and Cybersecurity from Osgoode. Mouna routinely acts as a breach coach and defence counsel in claims involving ransomware, email breaches, data security, data loss, wire fraud. She provides strategic and practical advice to clients on their obligations under Canada’s Federal and Provincial privacy laws and assists them in developing and updating their incident response plans. Mouna has significant litigation experience that assists her when representing lawyers, IT service providers, data controllers and other professionals in third party litigation stemming from wire fraud, data breaches and data loss. She is often called upon to commence litigation to trace and recover lost funds following social engineering attacks. In 2021, Mouna was recognized by Lexpert as a “Leading Lawyer to Watch” and was awarded the Richard B. Lindsay QC Exceptional Young Lawyer Award by CDL.
