Philip Cho is a partner at WeirFoulds practising in insolvency and bankruptcy, with a complementary practice in commercial litigation. He has gained a reputation as an effective and practical advisor to his clients, providing advice to clients in the context of proceedings under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act and the Companies’ Creditors ArrangementAct. He also provides advice to clients in informal restructuring or insolvency matters, both on the lender side and on the debtor side, particularly in the mid-market. He serves as a member-at-large for Ontario Bar Association’s insolvency law section executive, as a member of the Bankruptcy Court registrar’s committee, as an advisor with the Law Society of Ontario’s Coach and Advisory Program, and as a board member of Korean Canadian Lawyers Association, International Association of Korean Lawyers (co-vice president), and Korean Canadian Scholarship Foundation (former board chairman). In 2023, he received the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers’ Social Justice Award. His speaking/teaching engagements include the LSO’s “Six-Minute” series, the OBA’s insolvency law section programs, Osgoode Professional Development construction law programs, and as a lecturer at Lincoln Alexander School of Law, among others.
