Randy maintains a corporate tax practice with a focus on resource taxation, international taxation, and public company transactions including spin-outs, acquisitions, reorganizations and financings. He has extensive experience developing and implementing international investment and holding structures for Canadian corporations with operations in foreign jurisdictions. He also regularly provides structuring advice to foreign entities making investments into Canada, particularly in the mining, real estate, and technology sectors. Randy obtained a BA from the University of British Columbia and an LLB from the University of Alberta. Called to the British Columbia Bar in 2005.

On April 12, 2018, Arbutus Biopharma Corporation (Arbutus), an industry-leading hepatitis B virus (HBV) therapeutic solutions company, and Roivant Sciences Ltd. (Roivant) announced that they have entered into an agreement to launch Genevant Sciences (Genevant), a jointly-owned company focused on the discovery, development, and commercialization of a broad range of RNA-based therapeutics. Under the terms of the agreement, Roivant will contribute US$37.5 million in transaction-related seed capital for Genevant.
First Quantum Minerals Ltd. announced that it acquired Lumina Copper Corp. in a cash and share transaction valued at approximately $470 million. The transaction was carried out by way of a statutory plan of arrangement pursuant to the Business Corporations Act (British Columbia). As a result of completion of the transaction, First Quantum now owns the Taca Taca project in Argentina, one of the world's most promising undeveloped copper deposits.
