Robert M. Ben is a senior partner at Thomson Rogers LLP. A former social worker turned lawyer, he has dedicated his practice to advocating for children and adults who are victims of brain, spinal cord, or serious orthopaedic injury, as well as those who have suffered wrongful death. Along with his team at Thomson Rogers LLP, he was instrumental in the Baker vs. Blue Cross case, upheld in 2023 by the Ontario Court of Appeal, securing the largest punitive damages award of $1.5 million against a disability insurance company in Canada. He also maintains an active practice in plaintiff-side class actions concerning healthcare negligence, product liability, insurance coverage, and consumer rights.
