Robin helps clients manage some of the most complex and challenging permitting and development files in Canada, particular in the context of consultation and negotiation with Indigenous groups. His practice focusses on ensuring regulators treat permit applicants fairly and in accordance with the Rule of Law, and helping Indigenous groups participate in properly structured economic opportunities such equity ownership in major projects. In his work, Robin draws upon his own unique experience and practical insights, having served as Deputy Minister of Energy, Mines & Petroleum Resources, head of the BC Environmental Assessment Office, Chief Treaty Negotiator for the Province of BC and Chair of the BC Oil & Gas Commission (now BC Energy Regulator). Robin holds law degrees from Harvard Law School and the University of British Columbia, has clerked for the British Columbia Court of Appeal and has taught both public and private international law at the University of Victoria. He is widely quoted by the media on issues related to major project development and Indigenous rights.
