Ryma is a Partner in BLG's Tax Group in Ottawa. She regularly advises registered charities and non-profit organizations on the income tax implications of their transactions and activities. Ryma is frequently involved in the establishment of charitable organizations and foundations, guiding them through their start-up phase and interactions with the Canada Revenue Agency and assisting during their ongoing existence and dissolution. She has experience advising on the complex income tax rules governing non-profit organizations and navigating the restrictions imposed by the Canada Revenue Agency. Ryma is currently the Communications Officer of the CBA Charities and Not-for-Profit Section and serves on the executive of the OBA Charities and Not-for-Profit Section. Ryma’s practice also focuses on advising private clients, trusts and closely-held private companies on tax-related matters, such as corporate reorganizations, tax dispute resolution, estate planning transactions and post-mortem transactions. She completed CPA Canada’s In-Depth Tax Course and CPA Canada’s In-Depth Corporate Reorganization Course and is a member of STEP Canada. Called to the Ontario Bar in 2011.
