Sandra Barton is a partner in Gowling WLG’s Toronto office. A trial lawyer, her practice includes complex commercial litigation involving infrastructure, contract, shareholder, and commercial real estate disputes; class action defence; product liability; defamation; professional liability defence; and trademark and copyright disputes. She has represented clients before all levels of courts, in private arbitrations, and in local and multijurisdictional disputes. She works closely with clients and counsel in the US and throughout Canada to develop cogent, cost-effective litigation strategies. She is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and has been recognized by several publications including Chambers Canada, The Lexpert®/American Lawyer Guide to the Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada, and the Legal 500 Canada. A sought-after trial advocacy instructor, she has trained lawyers across North America in a range of trial and appellate skills. She has been an adjunct professor at Osgoode Hall Law School and is a lead instructor in its annual intensive trial advocacy workshop for lawyers across Canada. She is also a visiting instructor at the University of Notre Dame and regularly trains lawyers for The Advocates' Society.
