Selena Kim

Selena Kim is a partner in Gowling WLG's Toronto office, practising in the areas of intellectual property enforcement, patent and design prosecution, transactional intellectual property work, and strategic intellectual property portfolio management. Selena has been Certified as a Specialist in Intellectual Property (LSO) in patent, trademark, and copyright. Her litigation experience includes work before all levels of court in Canada, involving patents for complex mechanical, electronic and chemical inventions. Selena provides strategic advice to clients on all aspects of their IP portfolios. She also conducts patent and design agency work before the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO). Selena has a technical background in molecular biology and is a registered patent agent before both CIPO and the US Patent and Trademark Office. She is also a frequent speaker and active leader within the American Bar Association, as a Commissioner of the Commission on Women in the Profession and the National Asian-Pacific American Bar Association. Selena has been recognized in Chambers Canada, IAM Patent 1000, The Canadian Legal Lexpert® Directory, and The Best Lawyers™ in Canada. In 2020, she was named one of the "Top 25 Most Influential Lawyers in Canada" by Canadian Lawyer magazine.
