Shane is a leader of the firm's Critical Situations & Shareholder Activism Group. His national commercial litigation practice focuses on complex securities litigation and regulatory matters, shareholder disputes, M&A litigation, proxy litigation, securities enforcement matters, and disputes in the wealth industry. Shane also conducts sensitive internal investigations into potential violations of securities law, anti-corruption and bribery legislation, fraud, and regulatory breaches. He also has significant experience in securities class actions and recently co-led one of the few common issues class actions to proceed to trial. Many of his files have a cross-border component. Shane frequently speaks at conferences on topics in securities law, corporate governance, and shareholder disputes. He is currently an Adjunct Professor at the University of Western Ontario Law School in Corporate Crime, Crisis & Culture and an Adjunct Moot Advisor of the University of Toronto Law School's Corporate Securities Competitive Moot Program. He was an Adjunct Professor of Advanced Securities at Osgoode Hall. Shane is a member of the firm’s national Pro Bono Committee, Student Committee, and volunteers as a mentor with the Osgoode Hall Mentorship Program.
