I have been at Weir Bowen since 2009, and have had the good fortune to work with pioneers in medical malpractice litigation, and fantastic lawyers in many other areas of law. I feel privileged to work for people who have been injured through no fault of their own. Most of my clients have been injured due to the negligence of a doctor or nurse, but I also work for people injured by drivers or careless property owners. Deciding to sue somebody is not easy, and most of my clients have never been involved in a lawsuit. As such, it is important that anyone considering a medical malpractice claim receives advice from a lawyer who practices in this area. I feel quite lucky to assist clients in making that decision and guiding them through litigation, if warranted, and they choose to do so. In addition, I teach other lawyers and medical professionals about this complex type of litigation. While this area of law can be sad at times, my children keep me busy and balanced. I also volunteer for the boards of the Alberta Civil Trial Lawyers Association and iHuman Youth Society. I am a founding organizing committee member of the Women’s Legal Forum with the Alberta Civil Trial Lawyers Association: an initiative for women in law to support each other, while fundraising for a worthy charity.
