For the past 40 years, Steven Chaimberg has been practising commercial leasing and real estate law. He obtained his civil law and common law degrees from McGill University, and is a member of the bars of Quebec and Ontario. He has represented well-known national and international tenants in their entry into the Canadian market, as well as a major Canadian retailer in its aggressive expansion program. His landlord representation includes entities based outside of Quebec, for whom he provides assistance in dealing with Quebec-specific matters. His experience enables him to act for lessors and lessees in the preparation and negotiation of all manner of real property-related agreements, as well as more general business matters such as acquisitions, divestitures, licensing, and franchising. He has been recognized by Lexpert as a leading practitioner in Property Leasing, and was twice named “Lawyer of the Year” in commercial leasing law by Best Lawyers. He has prepared and presented the Quebec case law updates for the Canadian Shopping Centre Law Conferences of the ICSC from 1998 through 2023. He is called upon frequently to speak at real estate industry conferences and seminars, including as a featured panellist.
