Tara Sweeney practises civil litigation with an emphasis on medical malpractice, catastrophic personal injury, insurance law, estates, and commercial litigation. Tara has appeared before the Superior Court of Justice, Divisional Court, the Court of Appeal for Ontario, the Federal Court, the Federal Court of Appeal, and various administrative tribunals, including professional colleges. Tara has been recognized by Lexpert and Best Lawyers for her expertise in Medical Negligence and was recognized by Best Lawyers as Lawyer of the Year for 2023, and 2024 in Ottawa for Professional Malpractice Law. Tara is currently a member of The Holland Group, which is composed of senior counsel who acts for both plaintiffs and defendants in medical negligence cases. Tara also served on the Board of Directors of The Advocates’ Society, the preeminent organization which represents Canadian advocates, from 2016 to 2020.
