Taryn Burnett, KC is a partner in Gowling WLG’s Calgary office, a member of the firm’s board of trustees, and former national lead of the insurance and professional liability group. Her practice focuses on professional and product liability litigation and privacy-related matters. She acts as counsel for physicians on behalf of the Canadian Medical Protective Association and also regularly represents the interests of psychologists, physiotherapists, accountants, engineers, architects, and other professionals in defending claims arising out of errors and omission, insurance coverage issues, and related matters. She also acts as counsel on product liability cases in various industries including automobile, medical and consumer products. In her privacy practice, she advises clients on issues pertaining to privacy compliance, responding to breaches and requests for access to information, as well as clients’ other privacy-related issues. She has acted on matters in Alberta, BC, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario, has appeared in all levels of court in Alberta and in the Federal Court of Appeal, and represented clients before various regulatory and administrative bodies.
