Tyson is a principal and the co-lead of our Indigenous Law Group. He advises Indigenous Nations on issues relating to governance, project participation, community engagement, rights and title strategies, and shared decision making. Tyson regularly supports Indigenous Nations in their negotiations with industry and government throughout all phases of resource and infrastructure activity, implementing shared decision-making frameworks and expanding government-to-government relationships. He also works with Nations to develop governance structures that are unique to their culture and traditions while working closely with leadership to develop and execute community engagement strategies — often spending significant time within communities to better understand members’ concerns and objectives. A large portion of Tyson’s current practice involves serving as fractional General Counsel for one of British Columbia’s most well-organized, progressive, and assertive Indigenous governments. In 2023, Lexpert recognized Tyson as a Lexpert Rising Star: Leading Lawyer Under 40 in Canada.
