Victoria’s practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, corporate governance and complex commercial arrangements for financial institutions, REITs, and public and private corporations, with specialized expertise in the financial services and retirement homes sectors. In addition to her transactional practice, Victoria routinely advises Canadian and foreign financial institutions and other regulated and unregulated financial service providers on a variety of regulatory matters, including bank and insurance regulation, Fintech, compliance, establishment of new financial institutions in Canada, corporate governance, credit cards, payment and settlement systems, compliance and outsourcing arrangements. Victoria completed a secondment at the Office of Superintendent of Financial Institutions in 2010.
On May 1, 2015, Chorus Aviation Inc. acquired Voyageur Airways, a private company based in North Bay, Ontario. Voyageur is a Transport Canada approved air operator and an integrated provider of specialized aviation services, including contract flying operations both internationally and domestically, and offers advanced engineering and maintenance capabilities.
The Manufacturers Life Insurance Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Manulife Financial Corporation, acquired the holding company of The Standard Life Assurance Company of Canada and Standard Life Investments Inc. from Standard Life plc in consideration for a payment of CAD$4 billion in cash.
