Vivian is a solutions-oriented transactional lawyer advising multinational corporations and private equity sponsors in connection with cross-border acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic investments. She is highly adaptable, seamlessly pivoting her broad practice to reflect market developments and accommodate clients’ needs. She has the rare ability to lead complex projects in the power and infrastructure/construction sectors and mergers and acquisitions in highly regulated environments. She also has particular expertise working with Japan-based clients on their investments with any Canadian aspect. Vivian has acted on numerous high-profile infrastructure projects and M&A transactions across Canada, including the $8.25-billion Eglinton Crosstown LRT and advising Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board on its acquisition of HomeQ Corporation and Equinix, Inc. on its $1.04-billion acquisition of BCE Inc.’s 25 data-centre facilities across Canada. Vivian worked as senior legal counsel with a construction industry leader, acquiring invaluable in-house experience as the responsible lawyer on complex domestic and international projects. She is a national co-chair of the Firm’s Power and Renewable Energy group and a primary contact of the Blakes Japan practice group.
