Thomson Reuters, a global content and technology company, announced the launch of CoCounsel 2.0, an upgraded version of its generative AI (GenAI) assistant with expanded legal skills.

Legal professionals can benefit from the additional capabilities that the new version of the tool brings, including an improved ability to analyze complex patterns in legal documents, said a press release from Thomson Reuters.

The upgraded GenAI assistant seeks to help legal professionals achieve a competitive advantage by freeing up 12 hours per week, the press release added.

CoCounsel 2.0 aims to combine the capabilities of OpenAI, Google Cloud AI, and Thomson Reuters’ own offerings, including in the realm of legal technology, the press release said. Specifically, the tool is accessible from within Thomson Reuters’ products, beginning with Westlaw Precision and Practical Law.

The newly launched Claims Explorer in Westlaw Precision with CoCounsel, which enables legal professionals to enter facts and to identify applicable claims or counterclaims, seeks to simplify claims research, the press release said.
