The Corporate Legal Operations Consortium (CLOC) has appointed Oyango Snell as its new executive director, effective Nov. 25. The organization says he is well-suited to lead it into its next chapter and guide its growth and impact.
Snell is an experienced executive and lawyer who deeply understands the legal industry, CLOC said in a news release.
“I am honored to join CLOC as its Executive Director at such a dynamic time for both the organization and the legal industry,” Snell said in the news release.
As a peer-driven non-profit professional association focusing on legal operations, CLOC brings together legal ops professionals, service providers, and stakeholders to promote innovation and standardization within the industry.
In its news release, CLOC said that Snell can build diverse, high-performing teams and promote innovation and collaboration, given his background in association leadership and advocacy and his experience with leadership roles focusing on organizational strategy and operational effectiveness.
Specifically, he has been general counsel and executive director for California-based associations and, most recently, director of academic success at the University of the Pacific’s McGeorge School of Law.
“CLOC’s growth has been extraordinary, and I am eager to work with the Board, staff, and our members to build on this success,” Snell said in CLOC’s news release. “Together, we will continue to innovate and advance the business of law.”
Snell will work closely with the board of directors to develop CLOC’s strategy and with its staff to implement it. His focus will be on expanding the organization’s global reach and influence through partnerships and collaboration.
Words from CLOC leadership
CLOC’s board conducted an “extensive and inclusive” search during the appointment process, the news release said.
“This process truly reflected the Board’s commitment to identifying someone with a deep understanding of the legal industry and a passion for driving innovation,” said Jenn McCarron, CLOC’s president, in the news release. “I’m overflowing with excitement to welcome Oyango as our new Executive Director and can’t wait to see the incredible impact he’ll have on CLOC.”
Lisa Konie, CLOC’s interim executive director for the past two years, also expressed excitement for Snell’s leadership of the organization.
“As someone who has been with CLOC since its inception, you can imagine that I had high hopes and expectations for this search,” Konie said in CLOC’s news release. “Frankly, our efforts paid off. Oyango is the leader CLOC needs at this point in our trajectory.”
CLOC said in its news release that Konie dedicatedly led the organization’s operations and staff, witnessed its early growth, and, as a board member, assisted in shaping its vision and strategy.
