Brian Facey is chair of Blakes' Competition, Antitrust & Foreign Investment Group. He is past chair of the Canadian Bar Association’s National Competition Law Section. Brian was recently named one of the top 15 Antitrust Lawyers in the world, and is the only Canadian lawyer to receive this distinction. According to Who’s Who Legal: Canada 2014, Brian is the most highly nominated lawyer in this practice area in Canada. He is co-author of two treatises on competition law: Competition and Antitrust Laws in Canada: Mergers, Joint Ventures and Competitor Collaborations (2013), and Competition and Antitrust Law: Canada and the United States (2014); and the Annotated Investment Canada Act (2015), (all published by LexisNexis). Recent significant matters include: Bell Canada in connection with its acquisition of Glentel Inc.; Halliburton Company in connection with its acquisition of Baker Hughes Incorporated; Holcim Ltd. in connection with its merger with Lafarge S.A.; Office Depot, Inc. in connection with its transaction with Staples, Inc.; GSK in its Consumer Healthcare, Vaccines and Oncology transactions with Novartis AG.
