Brian Facey is chair of Blakes' Competition, Antitrust & Foreign Investment Group, widely regarded as the leading competition law practice in Canada, and awarded Competition Law Firm of the Year in 2016, by Chambers Canada. He is past chair of the Canadian Bar Association’s National Competition Law Section. Brian was recently named one of the top 15 Antitrust Lawyers in the world, and is the only Canadian lawyer to receive this distinction. He is co-author of two treatises on competition law: Competition and Antitrust Laws in Canada: Mergers, Joint Ventures and Competitor Collaborations (2013), and Competition and Antitrust Law: Canada and the United States (2014); and the Annotated Investment Canada Act (2017), (all published by LexisNexis). Recent significant matters include: Bell Canada in connection with its acquisition of Manitoba Telecom Services Inc.; Agrium on its proposed merger of equals transaction with Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc.; Holcim Ltd. in connection with its merger with Lafarge S.A.; Superior Plus Corp. in connection with its proposed acquisition of Canexus Corporation.
