Cathy is a Toronto Partner who litigates a broad range of complex cases. Cathy litigates complex commercial and regulatory cases and defends class actions with a regulatory component. She currently defends clients in multiple privacy, antitrust, insurance, product liability, misleading advertising, telecommunications and consumer-protection class actions. Cathy also acts as breach counsel for clients experiencing a data breach or cybersecurity incident. Cathy has appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada in 18 appeals and has appeared before the courts of every province, the Federal Courts, the Competition Tribunal and other tribunals. She frequently provides constitutional and other public and commercial law opinions. She co-leads Blakes’ Toronto Litigation Group and leads Blakes National Cybersecurity Working Group. She was the Gold Medallist at Osgoode Hall Law School in 1997. Cathy taught information and privacy law at Osgoode Hall Law School from 2000 to 2008. She clerked for the Honourable Antonio Lamer, Chief Justice of Canada from 1997 to 1998. Cathy obtained an LLM from Harvard Law School, an LLB from Osgoode Hall Law School and a BA from the University of Prince Edward Island..
