Eldorado Gold Corporation completed its acquisition of Sino Gold Mining Limited on December 15, 2009, by way of schemes of arrangement under the laws of Australia. Under the transaction, Eldorado issued 135,830,539 common shares to former Sino Gold securityholders. Immediately following completion of the transaction, Eldorado's market capitalization was approximately $7.7 billion (based on a $14.42 closing price of the Eldorado shares on the TSX on December 14, 2009) and it became a leading foreign gold producer in China.
Eldorado is a Canadian gold production, exploration and development company headquartered in Vancouver, with an operating mine in each of Turkey and China and exploration or development projects in Brazil, China, Greece and Turkey and the surrounding regions. Sino Gold was an Australian gold production, exploration and development company headquartered in Sydney with two operating mines and exploration and development projects, all in China.
