Michael is the Chair of the firm's executive committee. He is a Fellow of the Insolvency Institute of Canada. Michael has acted as lead counsel in insolvency and restructuring matters originating in Saskatchewan, and has been local counsel in national transactions involving Saskatchewan parties or Saskatchewan assets. He regularly advises financial institutions with respect to lending and enforcement policies, and as to the structure of commercial transactions. Michael has a wealth of experience from his broad banking law and commercial practice, including related litigation. He has appeared before all levels of court in Saskatchewan, in the Manitoba Court of King’s Bench, in the Alberta Court of King’s Bench and the Alberta Court of Appeal, and in the Supreme Court of Canada. He was the Estey Chair in Business Law at the University of Saskatchewan College of Law in 2022.
On December 16, 2014, the City of Saskatoon signed a project agreement with Integrated Team Solutions SCOC Partnership, a consortium comprised of EllisDon Capital Inc. and Fengate Capital Management, on behalf of Fengate Greenfield Infrastructure Fund L.P. and Toronto Electrical Workers Infrastructure Fund L.P., to design, build, finance and maintain the Saskatoon Civic Operations Centre.
