Dov Begun is a partner in Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP’s Toronto office. He specializes in the areas of the taxation of employee and executive compensation, mergers and acquisitions and corporate reorganizations, and the taxation of emerging companies and high-technology transactions. He also advises multinational clients investing in and carrying on business in Canada. Dov is a frequent lecturer on matters relating to executive compensation, stock options and related phantom and stock-based incentive plans. He is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Law Society of Ontario and the Canadian Tax Foundation.
In Canada’s largest M&A transaction of 2014, US-based Burger King Worldwide Inc. acquired Tim Hortons Inc. in a $12.5-billion deal that created a global powerhouse quick service restaurant company based in Canada. Combined, the company now has more than 18,000 restaurants in 100 countries.
