Paul Harricks is counsel in Gowling WLG’s Toronto office. A corporate lawyer with an international experience and reputation, Paul focuses largely on the energy, nuclear, and infrastructure sectors. From 2019 to 2023, he served as EVP & Chief Legal Officer of Hydro One, Ontario’s largest electric utility, responsible for its legal, regulatory, governance, ethics, and compliance functions. Previously, Paul led the national Energy and Infrastructure Groups at Gowling WLG. He spent four years as head of Gowling WLG’s Toronto Business Law Department and was a member of the Toronto office’s Management Committee. Paul has assisted clients with a range of private and public M&A transactions. He has been involved in the formation and governance of infrastructure investment funds, downstream investments in P3s, debt capital market transactions, nuclear new-build and refurbishment projects, and project development work in various sectors. He has led dozens of public and private debt and equity transactions for issuers and investment dealers in sectors including financial services, real estate, consumer products, and electricity distribution. Having achieved his ICD.D certification, he has served on the boards of several public and private companies and not-for-profits.

On January 31, 2017, PowerStream Holdings Inc., Enersource Holdings Inc. and Horizon Holdings Inc. amalgamated to form Alectra Inc.
