Tamara is a member of Saulteau First Nations and among a handful of Indigenous female solicitors in Canada. At MT+Co., she co-leads our Indigenous Law Group. Tamara is a respected advisor on advancing Indigenous title implementation, jurisdiction, legal orders, and consent-based decision-making in government-to-government arenas. She helps clients navigate sustainable resource development and equitable revenue sharing for the projects and industries within their Territories. Tamara supports clients in negotiations, advises on UNDRIP implementation, and analyzes the legal responsibilities flowing from natural resource use. Tamara maximizes the commercial footprint of Nations, advising on commercial acquisitions and necessary structures to realize economic prosperity. Tamara shares her skills as Chair of the Victoria Foundation Board of Directors and her Nation’s economic development entity, the Mistahiya Group of Companies. She is a former director of the BC Cancer Foundation, Vancouver Native Health Society, Governor of the Justice Institute of BC, and former Vice President of the Aboriginal Mothers Centre Society. In 2020, Tamara was recognized as a Lexpert Rising Star, a Leading Lawyer Under 40 in Canada, and a leading lawyer in Indigenous law by Best Lawyers and Lexpert.
