Practises commercial real estate, including financings and refinancing of real estate assets (mortgage transactions, sale/leaseback transactions, private placements and public offerings), acquisitions, dispositions, management/development agreements, joint ventures, and partnerships. Has acted on several sale-leaseback transactions and credit lease transactions in connection with commercial mortgage-backed securities, and for issuers and underwriters in connection with the IPOs of several REITs. Represented CPPIB in a number of joint ventures; RioCan REIT in numerous acquisitions, joint ventures, and financings; Oxford Properties in a number of leasing and development matters and financings; H&R REIT in a number of acquisitions, sales, and financings; and for sponsors and investors in real estate-based funds. Recognized as a leading real estate lawyer by Chambers, various Lexpert publications, The Legal 500 Canada, Euromoney’s Guide to the World’s Leading Women in Business Law, IFLR1000, Best Lawyers in Canada (2014 Toronto Real Estate Lawyer of the Year) and LBR’s The International Who’s Who of Real Estate Lawyers and The International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers. On October 14, 1999 a $220 million public offering of pass-through certificates was completed to finance the construction of the new TransCanada Pipelines head office tower in Calgary, Alberta.
